Outstanding Master’s Student Award in Community Impact

Jamie Klag of the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, Alisa Chen from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and LeAnn Mendoza of the Khoury College of Computer Sciences have each distinguished themselves through their dedicated efforts to effect positive change within and beyond the Northeastern community. From improving communication for individuals with cerebral palsy to enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging on campus and in local communities, these students have made an indelible mark on society through their tireless work and innovative initiatives.

Outstanding Master’s Student Award in Leadership

Shweta Mishra from the College of Engineering, Anishma Metray of the College of Professional Studies, and Laurel Schlegel from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities stand out for their exceptional leadership contributions. Whether it’s through enhancing technical communication skills, driving growth and inclusivity within the project management community, or leading public history projects to amplify underrepresented voices, these leaders have demonstrated visionary leadership and a profound commitment to fostering vibrant, inclusive communities.

Outstanding Master’s Student Award in Teaching

Diptendu Kar and Brandon Lyman of the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, along with Rahul Kapadiya from the College of Engineering, have redefined excellence in teaching through their innovative methodologies, deep commitment to student success, and ability to make complex concepts accessible. Their contributions have not only enhanced the cybersecurity program and game design research but have also significantly improved the educational experiences of their students across a variety of challenging courses.

Outstanding Professional Doctorate Student Award in Community Impact

Richard Hathaway, also from the College of Professional Studies, Graduate School of Education, has been celebrated for his extensive work in community development and leadership coaching on a global scale. His efforts with Habitat for Humanity International and his impactful doctoral research have empowered emerging leaders and fostered significant community development initiatives.

Outstanding Professional Doctorate Student Award in Leadership

Jonathan Page, from the College of Professional Studies, Graduate School of Education, has been recognized for his transformative leadership in higher education, focusing on advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice. His initiatives have significantly contributed to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students, setting a new standard for leadership in education.

Outstanding Professional Doctorate Student Award in Practicum or Clinical Practice

Ryan Trismen of the School of Law has been honored for his dedication to tackling the acute challenges within the housing system through legal advocacy and policy reform. His defense of underrepresented individuals in housing matters exemplifies the profound impact of legal practice on social justice and public service.
